You know your parents are cool when.... your mom @lgray54 throws a 65th birthday party in her backyard. Your dad gets 30 musician friends together and plays for 7 hours straight. Out of nowhere, mom gets on stage and sings for everyone a song she’s never practiced. One day, I may be as cool as my parents. Love you guys.

Still buzzing from the #agraysurfexperience with @puntaconejoresort this last week. We had the #dreamteam of strangers who love to surf, making friendships for a lifetime during the trip. Thank you guys so much signing up for this trip @dsharpenc @jk_gleason @stophamertime @therealtezza1 @gone_richter @yo3ef @damienhobgood @nuttynulty . Where should the next Agray Surf Experience go?!
When imagining how great this trip for a group of surfers to @puntaconejoresort could be, it was all made possible by their surf guides and amazing staff. Thank you for helping put this all together. What an experience to have @damienhobgood giving these guys technique tips and stoke factor every day. Here’s one of the #agraysurfexperience attendees @jk_gleason on a minute long dream. Oh, and it was just our group out Thanks so much @nuttynulty for filming. This all wouldn’t have been possible without @buggscollection for his effort dialing us in!
When a group of surf-stoked-strangers immediately clicks to start the vibe of our trip. It’s so fun for me to share travels that I’ve always loved, and see them provide happiness for others. And we get the hero of them all @damienhobgood for the bonus round! Thanks so much @puntaconejoresort putting us onto the best waves and the favorite place to stay. Excited for 5 days of surf your brains out fun! #agraysurfexperience
Happy 40 year anniversary to mom and dad!!! Wow. No ones doing that! So proud to be your son. Thank you both for everything you’ve done to provide for your sons during these incredible years. Thanks for being the example I can only hope to be someday. Love you!!! @lgray54
1998: My favorite photo with the most influential people a 12 year old Alex could ask for. In regards to my previous post, that’s Jimmy Miller to the left of me. To the right, Greg Browning @gregsworld. And to the far left, my brother Chris. Come on, how cool is this to have these guys giving me advice before a heat?! I had no idea what I was doing, other than trying to be like them. Well and hopefully kick my brothers ass in a heat one day Luckiest kid in the world to be surrounded and supported by amazing humans like these from the beginning. And that’s what it’s really all about, who you choose to surround yourself with. This is a bitter sweet photo now with Chris and Jimmy gone. It’s still surreal to look at this and remember these times. The best times of my life. Never in a million years would I thought 50% of this photo wouldn’t be with us today. That said, thank you Greg for being the same epic guy sticking with me since the day we sat at the beach and took this photo. It’s an honor to call you a friend and mentor after all these years. mom @lgray54 #chrisgraylives #jimmymillerlives @jmmfoundation
I’m so stoked to share this footage with you. This is Jimmy Miller in 1990 at San Sebastián. It’s such a gift to be able to share this man with the world the way I remember him. Today marks 15 years since the most important influence on the brother’s Gray took his life. 2004 was a tough year losing both Chris and Jimmy. Jimmy introduced surfing to my brother as his junior lifeguard instructor. That moment provided by Jimmy is the reason the last 21 years of my life were directed towards professional surfing. My family did not come from a surfing background. I really ponder if surfing would’ve ever been introduced into my life if it wasn’t for Jimmy. Chris and I emulated all things Jimmy Miller. We even put lemon in our hair to try to look like his! Jimmy took us in as family on the weekends, and we surfed our brains out under his guidance. I am forever grateful for this man’s stoke and generosity towards youth. I’ve never met anyone with that “pure stoke” quite like Jimmy. We miss and love you. I can only imagine the barrels you and Chris have been getting. To the Miller family... you have so many people continuing to think and talk about Jimmy. He’s remembered with so much love and gratitude. Please checkout the Miller’s family foundation named after Jimmy @jmmfoundation. #jimmymillerlives
This was the last time I surfed 51 days ago... But who’s counting?! Can’t say I did any “high line” justice on this @cisurfboards custom fish. Nor is this a riveting display of surfing. But I did have a lot of fun trying to understand the feel, speed, and lines of 2 fins instead of three. This session was a pivotal moment in my decision making to get surgery in hopes of pain free surfing. After this session, I told myself the last year of pain every time I surfed needed to come to an end. So tomorrow I will surf again for the first time post surgery. I realize health is a necessity now that needs to be worked on daily. Going through injuries sucks, but it sure does give perspectives on what’s truly important. Thanks always to everyone for your support during this journey. And thanks again @astadventures for the fun trip. @nuttynulty
What an honor to be a part of @janicearagon induction to the Surfers Hall of Fame. On behalf of all @nssasurf alumni.... we love you!!! Congratulations Janice!!!
Well.... I got a 90% on my written Private Pilot exam today Woooo. Honestly haven’t studied since highschool 15 years ago. Picking up flying lessons is easily the most random thing I’ve ever done. And as I’ve moved into the part where 90% of people quit, I get it. This is hard. In fact, very hard. I had no idea the studying involved. And of course for good reason with safety. But really, I had no idea. I’m so lucky for this angel here Debbie. She endured 70 hours of ground school with me. If you are thinking about getting a pilots license please hit me up. There’s so much I wish someone had told me. Well, now there is still much more to go for the actual license. But today was a huge hurdle. Thanks so much to all of you for your support!!! Surfing by plane one day...
Our #agraysurftherapy group was given a huge gift being joined by guest speaker @michaelgervais. Goose bumps! Mike has been a huge key to unlocking many of the closed doors in my personal life and career. He’s a main reason I made it to this point acting on ideas like creating a surf therapy, rather than thinking about them. It’s been an honor to call him a friend. It was a dream come true having Mike volunteer his time, wisdom, tools and advice to mindfully move our group forward through grief. Truly Mike , thank you! And thank you to all tribe members who made the effort to create today’s space. We had two new members ride their first waves ever!
