“I finally won something!” -Parker Coffin after winning Surfing America Championships

Lower Trestles – San Clemente, California (June 25, 2010) – Parker Coffin, a charismatic 15 year old goofy footer from Santa Barbara, CA and last years runner up in the Surfing America Championships boys under 16 division, dominated his way to victory on Saturday, June 25, 2011. Parker’s dominating 17.8 final heat total left his fellow competitor needing a combination of scores to catch up to him.

The excellent conditions of Lower Trestles suited Parker’s surfing perfectly and allowed him to set the tone that he was going to be the one to beat. Parker’s stylish, fast and explosive backhand surfing earned him the highest heat totals in all but one heat of during his run in this competition.

On the final day, Parker arrived to Lower Trestles dressed in a suit, and quoted “I am here to do business.” That is exactly what he did all the way through the finals. In the dying moments of the final heat, Parker ripped a right hander all the way to the beach and ended the wave by pointing to his family and friends adding an exclamation point to his final heat win. The judges rewarded him a 9.8 for his efforts on that wave which secured his win in the finals.
