The New Flyer
Model Description
In 1999, Al Merrick designed the Flyer, revolutionizing high performance surfing in small waves. For 2013 Channel Islands has modernized the Flyer into a shorter and wider package. This new plan-shape allows for the same volume in a shorter rail line. We kept the forgiving 2-stage rocker and added spiral vee starting in front of the fins to allow for rail-to-rail quickness. The signature Merrick hip provides a pivot point for tight arcs.

Hi.I was looking this board and noticed that surfboard has as deep concave. My question is:How this surfboards works in mushy waves ?Thanks.
Marcelo, that concave will provide lift over and around those flat sections. It will feel very lively even in mushy waves.

Hey CI, I currently ride a 5:9 DD (5:8 dims) for the smaller days in SA. Would you say that the New Flyer is possibly a worthy replacement for the DD? Also have the DFR for the more solid days or winter swell. Would the performance of the New Flyer be closer to the DD or DFR? Last question – should I wait for the new LIPS model to replace the DD? Cheers Tven
Can it come as a quad setup? Thanks
Brenden, we make stock as a 5-fin option yes.
You can order custom amy way you want – CI
Hello, I just wanna to know how much rocker this board has in the nose and tail..
I’m wondering to get a surfboard for small waves and I think the best solution is this one. great job!!
“N.F. Is seeek. Paddles into waves better than my normal shortboard. Super fast- step on the tail hard and its a gas peddle. Keeps its speed on bottom turns up to the top. Tight quick turns are effortless. Very maneuverable and responsive- doesnt bogg as long as wieght is on the back foot. Im super stoked “
Has this board been test piloted as a step up?
Hamid,
It has not – CI

Hi CI, I’m contemplating ordering the new flyer. I’m weight 183 and hight 6″3″. I just want to make sure if the 6.0 will be suitable for my dimensions also considering that I intend to surf it in Israel where the waves are normally small and mushy.
Also, I could find the boad in 6″0″ on your shop and would like to get some details on how to orer the board online and other shipping information to Israel (packaging the board for safe shipment) and the associated costs.
Thank you
Eran
I’m having difficulty trying to figure out what Dimensions I should order for this board. I used the calculator provided and I know that I need to ride around 24 liters of volume…problem is I’m a short man. If I wanted this board in a 5’4 what would I need in terms of width and thickness to achieve 24 liters of volume. Most boards you stock that are short are for younger guys who still go to school…I work and weigh 140 lbs!!!! Much needed help. Thanks!!!
