What are those fin plus on Kelly’s quad?
Hi CI,
Thank you for sharing Kelly’s boards. Why do you use the FCS Fusion system for the thruster set up and the FCS X2 system for the Quad trailing fins?
Thanks,
Matt
Matt,
Those are actually yet-to-be-released FCSII system for the thruster fins. Either the quad installs were an afterthought or we didnt have enough rail plugs for the FCSII
cheers CI
Hi CI,
Thank you for the information; I appreciate it. Are FCS II fin systems screwless? Are they installed the same as the FCS Fusion System? Pre-glassing?
Thanks,
Matt
The Fred Rubble rounded-pin sure looks longer than the DFR next to it.
Just picked up a Fred Rubble 6″0 in round pin tail. I loved it, best board I’ve ever owned. Quick question ; on the top of the deck it says the dims and also says “bambam betta”. What does this mean ? Thanks CI !
Aldo,
was this board used?
sounds like a team board.
CI
Yes, it is used. That explains the fact that it is standard glassing instead of the more common ultralight. Just wanted to know if it was any different from the standard FR. For when it is time to replace it, that way I can order the exact same board. It is numbered 311231.
Thanks CI !
..sorry my hero can’t have these to show the world he’s a surfer too..
.. congrat kelly!!
It would be awesome to see the dimensions listed for each board! They look wide from nose to tail. Like em!
Is it shadows or does his number four have a concave deck?
Jeff,
yes the deck has flat/concave to it.
CI
the glassing logo look different on the 2 first one, what are they? EPS with team light glassing or epoxy?
JD
All 4 are epoxy lay-up. The two on the left were actually laid up with bio-based Entropy resin at GURU glassing while the next 2 were laid up with standard Epoxy at GLOBAL glassing. The #4 is a PU/PE glassed at our shop here at the factory.
take time out to hug your local laminator, sander, hot-coater or fin guy, they put blood and sweat into every board!
CI
what’s the choice of lays number on kelly’s epoxy board and on his PU boards ? NICO
Hey you Tjops !! So where did the Weirdo Ripper come from late addition to Kelly”s quiver!?
Craig,
Kelly has spent quite a bit of time in SB lately, the Snapper batch all had the Florida logos but with Weirdo in he was so amped to try we didnt have time to line it up for the shot before he just took it.
The design is about 10 generations of a re-worked Pod
Can you tell more about the #4 design it look realy good, what is the design best for? Rocker? Concave? Thanks
so what are the weirdo ripper dims – he looked really loose in his heat and is the deck also flat/concave?
thanks.
Just like Craig, I was also wondering why the Weirdo wasn’t in this pic……Its cool that Kelly is still passionate about surfing a new board just like us newbs are.
I also have a custom Weirdo, and I absolutely LOVE it!
hi
stef from france
could you describe us the type of quad kelly’s riding in first round at snapper in terms of sizes, outline inspiration, tail, concaves, volume, ? it is so interesting to watch and analyse for the past ten years!
thanks
stef
sorry i haven’t seen it is a weirdo in the comments above…
yes! i want to try it
bythe way, you know what, if your boards would coast 380 euros instead of 580 euros, for the same quality you would be as rich as microsoft or google!:)
all my friends in france dream about your outlines and models but can’t afford them…they earn between 900 and 15OO euros per month average and the economical projections are bad….new surfboards are a luxury!!
i am sure that in terms of profit itis better to sell 10 boards at 380 than 3 at 580…providing the same quality of course… i am not talking about mass shitty asiatic production…but rather about keeping a quality and democratic line of running a business…
perhaps you should think about future perspectives economically speaking, and be really modern…so many societies close because they refuse to see reality, real world realities, poverty and exploitatation…richer are getting fewer and fewer….watch out:)
Whatever i’ll keep on dreaming about a better world watching kelly’s experimentations and surf langage …and buying second hand boards
i had three ci boards though with good deals!! , a sashimi model (absolutely loved it, perhaps weirdo cousin no?) a mbm (too narrow on the nose) and a rubble ( so fun !!)
they lasted four months though as they were glassed 444…i call them the 4444!
Nate,
From Kelly’s last quiver that had the weirdo ripper……
5’6″ x 18 7/8″ x 2 5/16″ Weirdo Ripper . Winged swallow, concave deck, 5 fin option, poly.
Also the reports from the heat Kelly was in this week says he was on a 5’6″ weirdo.
But I could be wrong.
hey, what would be the volumes for a 5’11 x 18 3/4 x 2 1/4 dfr and a 5’10 x 18 7/8 x 2 5/16 fred rubble?
Hey CI any details on the new
“lips”prototype? Coming soon?
Hi! I know Kelly didn’t surf the Fred Rubble in the winning heat but if he had would it have been a standard Rubble only with a rounded pin or a step-up Rubble? Looking for a board to cover me from chest high to about the size they surfed in the final at Kirra. Can a Rubble do that or would it have to be a step-up Rubble?
Thank you very much.
Hi,
can you please post the respective volumes?
thanks
HI CA.. How Did Kelly like the DFR?
hey
jst wondering what the placement of those two strips does on the bottom of the first board?
