I notice jordy rides pretty thick boards , is there a difference between a 2 1/2 thick stock board vs a 2 1/2 thick board shaped for jordy ? Do u foil it out more ?
Aaron,
Actually might be less for Jordy. More like 2 5/8 foiled to 2 1/2 but don’t tell him that!
Going on the way it looks with him surfing, it looks like it would be better a tad thinner and with less rocker.
Jordy’s surfing takes away all the excuses for us big boys (thanks a LOT buddy).
6’5″ 220, looking to get a daily driver & a step up for OBSF – I’m thinking 6’3″ New Flyer & 6’6″ RP Rubble but open to suggestions.
Also thinking EPS/epoxy for longevity which would make it a custom order.
Does eps have a longer lead time?
Should I tweak standard dims for OB?
Shane,
It looks like you have your head pretty well wrapped around dims for your size and conditions, no need for us to tweak it.
EPS does unfortunately add lead time (10 ot 12 weeks for prod) as well as price (about $125) due to the labor-intensive nature of working with the more costly Epoxy materials.
Cheers CI
People from CI!
I was reading the question of Aaron about Jordy’ Smith plan shape boards. Can you put next time a few picutres of his boards?
I am really ciurious to see the volume distriibution, width of the nose and tail.
I am a heavy guy: around 90 kgs, surfing shortboards and always looking for the magic board!
One last question does his rail configuration is boxy or rounded?
Thanks’s for the answer!
Best wishes from France!
Thanks… ETA for New Flyer’s in CA shops?
Shane,
HSS has rec’d 10, and SurfRide, Jacks, and O’neill have 1 each. Next week most of the stores should be getting some stock.
Cheers CI
Hey CI,
Just wondering what the difference in tail rocker height is between the DFR and the Semi-Pro (12 and Standard).
Thanks!
Picked up the 6’6 Rubble and it goes and goes and goes. Hard to make a mistake on it. I’m blown away… you guys seriously know what you are doing. Q: Looking everywhere for a 6’3 NF with stock dims. Shipped any and if so who got them in CA? Cheers.
Thanks Shane.
We just shipped a 6’3″ to Jacks and to Surfride.
Hi CI
Im 6 foot nd 195 pounds.
Im looking for a step up board- for Indo very soon- I have a 6’10 for when its well over head-
Id like something for when its over head- what would you guys recommend?
Barton,
Your best shortboard about 3″-4″ longer than you are tall, same dimensions, but pull in the tail to a round our rounded pin.
