is the dfr a fred rubble
not even close
how exactly does the DFR differ from your normal shortboard e.g proton?
de,
The DFR, while still in development, has a wider nose and tail, little fuller in the rails. Meant to be ridden about your same height. Where “normal” shortboards used to be ridden about an 1 to 3 inches longer than you are tall.
Hi, alot of guys have been trying out this DFR right? Will it become a model? The sperm whale felt like it was more of a no, but it became a model. I would like to try one out. Thanks!!
Nate,
We definitely didn’t think the Sperm Whale would go into production but the number of shops and people asking for it was out of hand.
And yes the DFR is being tested by the team globally. There are still two slightly different versions being evaluated, and we hope to have the final design complete by soon so you would see these in shops for Northern Hemi summer.
I’m sure the was a huge demand for the sperm whale. So what’s the DFR about? Like the difficulty level and all those things?
Nate – Still being worked on, but the team has found it to work in small beachbreaks and at Rincon. It will likely be an all-around mid range shortboard, with good grovelling for intermediate to advanced surfers.
Hi mate, I’m 6’3 185lb’s and surf in Sydney Australia and indonessia. Intermediate – advanced level and after four boards nbeard, ddiver, frubble and sp12 just after some dimensions and tails you reccomend. Cheers mate.
Sorry mate my weight is 195 lbs
Cam
Sorry for the lag on your question.
Saw Dillon shredding on his DFR on the Gold Coast recently, nice guy too!!
My next board for sure!
can you tell me what the difference is between the DFR and the cheese stick? which one do you think would go better in the UK?
Hello I live in Japan and thinking of getting the Fred R. until i came across the DFR.
Where I live the waves are knee high and get up to shoulder high on most days. In the typhoon season it gets up to over head.
My level would be lower intermediate. 135lbs and 5’6″.
For the Fred R. I’m thinking the 5’9 and 18 1/2 and 2 3/16.
What size would you recommend for the Fred Rubble and the DFR ?
Yuuki,
thanks for your inquirey.

Your Fred dimension seems right, The DFR wont be out for at least a couple months, but you would ride the same dims as well.
Hi there,
Need to bridge the gap between my 5’9” fish and a 6’6” pin tail step up. Intermediate travelling surfer and would like something that will perform in waist to slightly overhead surf not just in perfect head-high indo but also in 3ft sloppy beach breaks. Am confused between DFR, Rubble and SP12 – all in my same hight (6’1” and 80kg). Can you please point me to the most versatile option which you think would work best me? Thanks a lot!! Andy
Andy,
That’s a pretty substantial gap, might need 2 boards!
DFR would be the most versatile of the 3, while the SP12 would be more towards the indo waves and the Rubble more towards the sloppy beachies.
