iPhone Diaries: Quiksilver Pro France 2011
October 5, 2011 / Dane Reynolds, Julian Wilson, Kelly Slater, Leeann Curren, Marc Larcomare, Pat Gudauskas, Taylor Knox

Dane's ribs are still in the process of healing. To help distribute the discomfort and transfer pressure, he tucked this air bladder under his wettie.

Coming Soon! Dane's new signature pad. No two are alike -- all completely original. Made from 100% post-production waste.

are those stomp pads actually legit, never know with dane
you see that grab-rail bottom turn in his heat?
110% LEGIT
ya bro,, im not so sure hes all in to contests yet tho
CI, do you know what bottom contours Dane and JW are riding on those shorter, wider boards??
Would like to order a 6’0 x 19 Rookie but figure might have to ask for a little vee off the tail to help put it on rail…
We can put some vee off the tail on a Rookie, and the team has done the same on certain boards. The Rubble and Semi Pro come standard with vee behind the trailing fin.
Oh and the Black Flag edition of the Whip has vee out the back
Have ordered a 5’10 Black Flag swallow , 6’0 Rookie squash, 6’1 Semi Pro rnd pin…Thanks for the feedback!
Did you request Vee out the back of the Rookie?
What shop so we can keep an eye out for them.
has dane made his Rookie tail a bit wider?if so< what would it do to his performance?
He has.
Most of the team has gone shorter and wider.
The wider tail allows Dane to surf a 6’0″ rookie but maintain the same volume as his 6’2″
Does anyone know what dane is riding in opening segment of singles pt. 2
( on marine layer productions)
5’6″ heavily modified Pod (this board may show up this summer)
5’11″ Rubble with FiberFlex tech for testing
Stock 5’11″ Rubble
5’7″ Neck Beard
does dane ride any of his boards in epoxy
Maybe 1 out of ten or less.
He was trying a fiberflex Rubble and Neckbeard.
He also rode an off-the-rack epoxy Diver at the US Open.
would like to order a semi pro rounded pin, im 5ft and ride a 5’2 short board, do you have and recomended dimensions?
thanks
To best help we would nned your weight.
But on the semi at your height – basic dimensions would be about 5’1″ x 17 1/8 x 1 7/8
At 59 .. height 5-10, 160lbs..active..riding 5-10 to 6-5 boards..interested in Fred Rubble or Semi Pro 5 fins rndpin ..volume 29+/-Liters seems best.. mainly Florida surf…Appreciate opinion for board type and dimensions in shoulder/overhead surf.
A 6’0″ 19 1/8 X 2 3/8 Rubble is just under 29L (28.6)
a 6’3″ 19 1/8 X 2 3/8 Semi Pro in 28.9L
If its solid overhead surf then go Semi Pro
Hi CI, I ordered the boards here in OZ… hope they are of the same quality of that in the US… can’t wait to give ‘em a test run!
Yes the Australian crew train yearly here in Santa Barbara and adhere to strict guidelines.
They also receive CAD files direct from Santa Barbara.
Iwas wonderng why nose and tail widths are notgiven anymore? If possible what are these dimensions on Kelly’s France boards? Any info would be greatly appreciated. thank you Mark
Nose and tail on Kelly’s new stuff has been 11″ plus and 14″ plus
would like to order a semi pro rounded pin, im 5ft and 40kg, i ride a 5,2 short board, do u have and idea wat size dims would suit me,
thanks again
and if u can what about some fred rubble dims,
sorry to be a hastle
Go 5’0″ and 1/4″ wider than the semi pro you order.
A 5’2″ Semi pro would work for you. You should ride it about your same height. Go 17″ x 1 7/8.
If you like your current board you should build from there.
So, fred rubble 5’0×17 1/4×1 7/8 and semi pro 5’2x17x1 7/8???
Jay – those are approximate for your size. Yes
Hi there, would you be able to tell me the volume on a 6’1 x 18 5/8 x 2 1/2 Semi Pro round pin? I was told the stock dimension on a 6’1 Semi was 18 5/8 x 2 1/4, but I’m a little heavier at 6 foot and roughly 185 lbs. I’m a hard paddler and can push my weight pretty good. I got the 2 1/2 to help with my paddling & bouyancy. Thank you in advance.
Tyler
Let us check with the CAD programmer for exact volume and get back to you.
Sorry for the delay
6’1 Semi 18 5/8 x 2 ¼ = 26.0L
6’1 Semi 18 5/8 x 2 ½ = 28.7L
The 28.8 is about perfect for an advanced surfer at 185
Just got a 5’10 x 18.5 cheesestick it works awesome in waves with some push, but only grovels alright and prefers a bowl. Thinking about getting a rubble for those mushier fatter small days when i still want to ride a shortboard and not my gravy (stock 5’5″). I’m around 5’9-5’10 and 155-160lbs, the 5’10 x 18.75 rubble sounds pretty good but I’d prefer a shorter board for the crap small days. What is volume of 5’10 x 18.75 rubble? Would a 5’9 x 18.75 x 2.25 work for me? Lastly is the rubble more beefy than cheesestick at similar dims?
Scott, Your 5’10″ Cheesestick is approx 25L of volume. A rubble at the same dims would be about 25.2L
A Rubble at 5’9″ 18 7/8 x 2 1/4 may work well at about 25.9L.
The wider nose and tail, and less rocker will also make it grovel better
For Sure CI! U guys rock! and got the best website in the biz!
