Kelly Slater's Quiver for Volcom Fiji Pro 2012

Kelly has been spending a lot of time on Tavarua this past year and really enjoys both Cloudbreak and Restaurants–finding them challenging and rewarding. He has been playing around with nose widths and keeping a good amount of volume under his chest on a lot of his bigger boards. It’s really important to be able to drive through the tube at Cloudbreak and be able to call on short-bursts of speed when you need them. There’s a lot of water moving so that extra thickness in the center really allows for great paddling and gets you into the bigger sets with fewer strokes. He likes his rail still a bit on the thinner side so that he still keeps the sensitivity of a thinner board on turns. For Resturants, Kelly will most likely turn to a smaller board that turns tight in the pocket and generates a lot of speed so he can cover some distance in the tube but not out run it–staying deeper for longer will be his goal there.
