The contest site here at Middles in Puerto Rico looks really rippable and Kelly looked spicy on that magic 5’9″ Semi Pro in his first heat win
Torrential rains come fast and hard, almost giving the venue a wood stock effect
CI team mates Kelly and Taylor Knox have a quick chat about the conditions ahead for the waiting period
The magic 5’9″ having a rest , earlier in the year Kelly had wanted to spray his boards and paint them to look old and beat up just for the heck of it. This one never got painted but it definitely got the look he was after anyway. I think his quote was “sometimes life imitates art ” as he was fixing the knuckle marks, ahh cough, I mean dings on the deck.
Right now Kelly has to finish higher than Jordy Smith to win the title, but he has chosen to take it one heat at a time and just focus on his equipment and surfing his best .
