They Will Surf Again Program

WHAT: On Saturday, Aug. 8, Life Rolls On Foundation will host its seventh “They Will Surf Again” (TWSA) of the summer in Wrightsville Beach, NC. More than 35 Wrightsville Beach residents will support TWSA, Life Rolls On’s signature quality of life program, which empowers individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI) to experience the freedom of riding a wave through the assistance of adaptive surfboards and dedicated volunteers. Surfing experience is not required, as for many of the 12 disabled surfers that will be at Wrightsville Beach, it will be their first time in the ocean.

“We are delighted to once again bring TWSA back to Wrightsville Beach,” said Meghan Schinderle, Program Director at Life Rolls On Foundation. “I have been told numerous times by so many of our talented surfers, we are not just providing a day of surf and sun, we are helping them find their ability to defeat disability and to focus on the infinite possibilities that lie ahead.”

They Will Surf Again has made a profound impact on the lives of thousands nationwide by uniting the able-bodied and disability communities to push the bounds of possibility for those with SCI. TWSA has proved that even if the body is challenged, the human spirit continues to soar. Additional event details can be found at www.liferollson.org/twsa.

This program is available at no-cost to participants through generous sponsorships by the Surf Industry Manufacturers Association (SIMA) and Global Surf Industries. Local partners include Andy’s Burgers, Shakes and Fries; Blockade Runner Beach Resort; Indo Jax Surf School; Mellow Mushroom Pizza; Starbucks Coffee and WbLiveSurf.com.
